A Storybook Beginning

Middleburg Books was born from a lifelong love of stories and a dream to build something amazing for the community of Middleburg.

Owner Mary Beth Morell spent nearly two decades as an educator and school librarian before deciding it was time to open the bookstore she’d always dreamed of. When she moved to Middleburg two years ago, she couldn’t imagine a town without a bookshop. So she rolled up her sleeves, found a charming 1790s building, and began the adventure of a lifetime.

From crumbling chimneys to a twinkling constellation ceiling, every part of the shop was lovingly renovated to spark wonder. Today, Middleburg Books is a jewel box—filled with magic, heart, love, and shelves bursting with thoughtfully curated titles.

Author Talks bring lively Q&As and heartfelt discussions to Middleburg Books. From novelists inspiring us to non-fiction writers helping us understand our world, these gatherings bring warmth, insight, and inspiration to our community.

Book Clubs are intimate discussions about a specific book with small group of readers. Held in our shop, they are led by one of one our devoted booksellers. Choose from a number of clubs.

Supper Clubs are where literature meets cuisine. Each month, we cook from a featured cookbook and gather around a beautifully set communal table to share food, conversation, and community.
